Responsible Gaming

You are the only person who can decide when gambling stops being entertainment. This page sets out some practical thinking to bring with you, along with a plain account of what this site can and cannot do to help you stay in control.

How much should you decide to spend before you start?

Set the amount before you open any game, not while you are playing. Once you have decided it, treat it as already spent, the way you would treat the price of a ticket to a show. This removes the pressure of deciding in the moment, which is exactly when judgment is weakest.

What should you do after a loss?

Never increase a bet to try to win back money already lost. Chasing losses is how a fixed, affordable amount turns into an unaffordable one, because each attempt to recover the last loss risks creating a bigger one. Walking away after a loss costs you nothing extra; chasing it might cost you far more.

Where should the money come from?

Only gamble with money that is genuinely spare. Money borrowed from a person, a credit line or next month's budget carries a second, unrelated obligation that gambling should never be asked to cover. If a loss would affect rent, bills or someone who depends on you, the amount was already too large.

Why do breaks and other people matter?

Step away regularly, even when a session feels fine. A short break outside the screen is often the only moment where you notice how long you have actually been playing. Talk to someone you trust as soon as gambling stops feeling like entertainment and starts feeling necessary; raising it early, before money or mood is seriously affected, is far easier than raising it later.

Can this site limit or check your play?

No. This site has no account, no form and no server-side application, so nothing published here can switch on a deposit cap, a loss cap, a reality check, a cooling-off period or self-exclusion, and nothing here can enforce one either. Controls like these belong to an account you hold directly with an operator, and they exist and operate at that destination, not on this page. Nobody's age is verified here and no gambling takes place on this site; any age check happens at the destination once you follow an operator link, and each of the ten operator listings ends with a reminder to check current availability and terms there before claiming anything. There is no advertising or behavioural profiling network on these pages, so nothing here is targeted at you based on risky play. The eighteen-and-over restriction is repeated throughout this site, including on the front page and at the end of every operator listing.

Where can you find independent help?

Every page of this site, including this one, carries links to three independent gambling-help organisations: gambleaware.nsw.gov.au, gamblinghelponline.org.au and responsiblegambling.vic.gov.au. These are the only outbound links on the site that are not commercial: they carry no sponsored marking, they are set to nofollow, and they open in a separate tab on the organisations' own websites. This site receives nothing when a reader follows them.
